DISTURBANCE ON THE ST. JOHN’S RIVER CONCERNS BUG LOVERS Og seen stalking true bugs
(Oviedo, Florida – October 2002) The deep pitched voice of a rana catesbeiana has been heard quite loudly in certain areas of the St. John’s river of late. Og, as he is known in the bog community has been chasing three true bugs named: Hughie, Louie and Geezer in an attempt to consume them to satisfy his large appetite. It is a fact that bullfrogs (rana catesbeiana) love to eat little bugs and small critters in the bog community. It is not enough that he plots to catch and eat the bugs but he uses catchy rhymes as well as his associates the bog frogs to help him.
Eco Fiction Books (a division of Day to Day Enterprises) has just released the story of Og the bullfrog in their new book "There’s a Frog on a Log in the Bog" the first in their new Florida Tales series. This new series of books introduces its readers, kids 9-12, into the world of Eco-fiction where the real world meets all sorts of fictional characters. Author, Robert Day says "by creating fictional characters such as Og, I can teach children about some of the real habits of the creatures of the bog and their environment in a fun way." Eco-Facts add an extra bonus of these books providing us with several pages of facts about the environment and the critters. Co-author and illustrator Linda Day reminds us, "that no matter where you live in this old world of ours almost everyone can relate to one type of a frog or another and that’s what makes this such a universal tale. It just so happens these frogs all live in Florida."
