(Long Beach,CA  09/09/2005)  When Linda S. Day decided to return to Long Beach for her 50 year Jordan High School class reunion she thought it would be "fun to give back to the city that raised her." So on Friday, September 9^th, Day who is affectionately known as Grandma will arrive at Grant Elementary School in her large flowered hat and oversized apron to do a daylong benefit performance for her old elementary school. You will find her telling stories, creating paper art and talking to students about what it is like to be an award winning author and illustrator. Day has been compared to author Hans Christian Anderson in her ability to tell wonderful stories and cut out intricate paper designs to amaze and delight children of all ages.

Day has a history in California. She attended U.S. Grant Elementary School and later graduated from Jordan High School in 1949. Her family ran Gainsboro Studios and La Linda Wedding Chapel on E. Artesia from 1944-1965. She married the late Robert O. Day and has eight children, twenty-three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Day currently resides in Florida near one of her daughters.

She is the award winning author of There’s a Frog on a Log in the Bog, and has just written a new book, GRANDMA’S MAGIC SCISSORS (ISBN 1-890905-68-2, Day to Day Enterprises, $14.95) which is scheduled for release next month. Fearless Reviews referred to Day, "as the Martha Stewart of paper cutting." She has also illustrated dozens of books including one for the Denver Bronco’s. She is a member of StoryMasters a professional storytelling group that tours the country telling stories in an effort to increase literacy. Day says, "Books are the magical key to unlocking the imagination and taking us on fantastic journeys." From California Day will continue her "Magic Within" tour across the country finishing in New Jersey at the Collingswood Book Festival
