Pirate Treasure Vacation Adventure Named "Best Florida Book"
OVIEDO, FL: (November 2007) The Seminole chieftan-turned-pirate Billy Bowlegs once prowled Florida's Emerald Coast; the annual Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival in Fort Walton Beach is named for him. Now, captivated by their father's bedtime stories (each based in the area they're visiting that day) two vacationing boys, Benjamin and Martin Kaye, follow his footsteps and search for his treasure—with surprising results.
The book that weaves together the stories of the real pirate—who allegedly was the first to announce that "dead men tell no tales"—and the fictional boys, Bowlegs' Bounty, by Georgia-based author Joseph Kropp, has just been named "Best Florida Book for Children" by the Florida Publishers Association.
Published by Oviedo, Florida-based Day to Day Enterprises, the book combines the boys' father's storytelling about Bowlegs, their quest for an adventure of their own, and lots of information, both historic and contemporary, about the Florida Panhandle.
Bowlegs' Bounty is the first in a series of books that follow the Kaye family to different parts of the country on vacation. In the second book, Hickok's Gold (also published by Day to Day Enterprises), the boys follow the trail of Wild Bill Hickok around Deadwood, South Dakota.
Both books are available wherever fine books are sold, or directly from the publisher at http://www.daytodayenterprises.com
